Concert: Trumpet concerto

  • Sanford-Springvale Historical Society 505 Main Street Springvale, ME 04083 United State (map)

Dr. Gold came to Springvale when Nasson College was a flourishing liberal arts institution. He was Nasson’s Professor of Music until the school closed eighteen years later. During that period his piano concerto was performed by the Portland Symphony with Dr. Gold at the keyboard. He twice had the honor of conducting the Boston Pops Orchestra in performances of his own music. In 1975 his oratorio “Haggadah: A Search for Freedom” was broadcast nationally by Public Television.

The program will consist entirely of his own works. The featured composition will be his trumpet concerto, composed in 2019 and dedicated to David Etzler. Professor Etzler, the Professor of Trumpet Studies at Castleton College, will perform the concerto.
